On Wednesday, July 1st, Microsoft announced that it is laying off slightly less than four percent of its global workforce. This move is aimed at reducing layers of middle management and making better use of modern technologies.
The company, considered a giant in cloud computing, said in an emailed statement, ‘We continue to implement necessary organizational changes to position the company and teams for success in a more dynamic market.’ Microsoft did not disclose the total number of jobs cut, but according to June 2024 statistics, the company had employed 228,000 people worldwide.
