Explanation by the Minister of Culture about the recent attack on Garsha Rezaei’s concert

Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, spoke about the measures taken by his ministry to prevent incidents similar to what recently happened at Garsha Rezaei’s concert in Sirjan and the Lian group’s performance at Vahdat Hall. He said the incident in Sirjan was resolved with the resistance and perseverance of our colleagues in the security team there.

This incident was related to internal disagreements and issues there, but they did not allow any harm to come to the audience or the performance, which is highly commendable. I thanked them through my colleagues for their support, as they truly stood firm and deserve recognition.

He added that, overall, any artistic performance might have some controversies. The government’s and the Ministry of Interior’s and the Ministry of Culture’s intention is to ensure that the field of culture and art continues its work peacefully through the measures that are being considered.
