Minister of Interior: Registration of Presidential Election Candidates Has Begun

The Minister of Interior announced the registration of candidates for the presidential election has begun

With the announcement by Ahmad Vahidi, Iran’s Minister of Interior, the registration of candidates for the Iranian presidential election has started today and will continue for five days

The fourteenth Iranian presidential election will be held earlier than scheduled following the death of Ebrahim Raisi. Mr. Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash on May 20th

According to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic, in the event of the president’s death, the presidential election must be held again within 50 days

The registration of presidential election candidates will continue until June 4th, after which the Guardian Council will have 7 days to review the qualifications

According to the schedule announced by Iran’s Ministry of Interior, the final list of qualified candidates will be announced on June 12th

After that, the qualified candidates will have 15 days for their election campaign, and the fourteenth Iranian presidential election will be held on June 29th
