The Minister of Labor says only four people in Iran own a Lamborghini
The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, by releasing statistics on luxury car owners, refuted the claim of widespread wealth among the Iranian people and simultaneously announced the government’s plan to remove 15 million subsidy recipients.
Ahmad Meidari said today, Tuesday, October 28, in the parliament, that only four people in the country own a Lamborghini, 181 own a Maserati, 3,600 own a Porsche, and 10,000 drive a Land Rover, while more than 56,000 people own cars from Kerman Motor.
Mr. Meidari stated that citizens are obliged to accurately declare their financial information, and providing incorrect information could lead to the removal of subsidies and the repayment of received amounts.
The Minister of Labor emphasized that the government has proposed removing subsidies for 15 million people, although the parliament can decide on the removal of up to 27 million people. The Iranian society is not wealthy enough for such a widespread removal to be logical.
According to new criteria, any family in Tehran that owns a house and has an income of more than 30 million tomans is considered to be in the top three income brackets. The disabled, veterans, and those with special illnesses are exempt from the list of those to be removed.
