Ministry of Health Warns About Scheduled Cesarean Sections

The Ministry of Health warned about calendar-based cesarean sections

On the verge of reaching the memorable date 02/02/02, while some parents want their child to be born on this date, the Ministry of Health of Iran warned all doctors and hospitals about performing calendar-based cesarean sections in a letter.

Saeed Karimi, the Deputy of Treatment at the Ministry of Health, warned the deputies of treatment at medical universities across the country about the statistical increase in calendar-based cesarean sections on the date 22/04/02 and announced that legal action will be taken against non-compliant hospitals as well as doctors who promote and have a high rate of cesarean sections on special calendar dates.

In past years’ directives and notifications from the Ministry of Health to impose restrictions on calendar-based cesarean sections, it was emphasized that supervisory visits to hospitals are necessary, and it was announced that a hospital receiving three warnings under Article 33 of the hospital regulations would lose its accreditation as a penalty.
