Mizan News Agency: Majid Nouri handed over to the Iranian consulate in Sweden

Majid Nouri, the son of Hamid Nouri, whose arrest in Sweden was reported by Iranian media, has been released according to Mizan News Agency on Monday, April 1.

According to the Judiciary’s news agency, Majid Nouri has been handed over to the Iranian consulate in Sweden following efforts by the Foreign Minister and the Judiciary’s International Affairs Department.

Atieh Nouri, the daughter of Hamid Nouri, previously stated that her brother went to Sweden to visit their father and was arrested there.

Swedish police told the BBC yesterday that they would not comment on Majid Nouri.

Hamid Nouri, a former deputy prosecutor of Gohardasht prison, was arrested on November 9, 2019, in Sweden on suspicion of involvement in war crimes and the murder of political prisoners in the 1980s. After a long trial, he was sentenced to life imprisonment on May 3, 2022. His appeal request was rejected in March 2024.
