Moderates will step forward to change the situation
Ali Motahari, the Deputy Speaker of the Tenth Parliament, said regarding the formation of a council of moderate figures, that if such a council is formed and they have the opportunity to participate in the elections, it will definitely benefit the system. However, this is on the condition that there are wise individuals among those who draft and implement the major policies, who provide the opportunity for their activities. Currently, the country’s policy makers are not considering these matters.
Mr. Motahari, regarding his prediction about the performance of the Guardian Council in the 2023 elections, said it is too early now to predict how the parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections in 2023 will be held, but it seems very unlikely that the system’s officials will change their approach.
He further added that in the upcoming elections, they will most likely proceed with the same approach as in the parliamentary elections of 2019 and the presidential elections of 2021. Therefore, for now, there is no hope for a change in approach and the creation of an opportunity for moderate individuals to enter the elections.
