Moeinuddin Saeedi, Member of Parliament: 400,000 People in Sistan and Baluchestan Affected by Floods

Moeinuddin Saeedi, a member of parliament, says 400,000 people in Sistan and Baluchestan are affected by the flood.

Moeinuddin Saeedi, a member of parliament, spoke to Entekhab about the flooding in the southern part of Sistan and Baluchestan, saying, unfortunately, with the recent terrifying rains that were even harsher than Cyclone Gonu, we are severely experiencing floods in the southern counties of the province. There is no crisis management infrastructure, and on the other hand, all the main roads, especially in the counties of Chabahar, Konarak, and Qasr-e Qand, are blocked. In these conditions, we expect some attention to be paid to the people, and elections should not overshadow everything. I request the Red Crescent and crisis management to pay attention, and we expect the army not to leave the people alone with their helicopters. It should not be that the Dashtiari region is swept away by water while the central officials are asleep. I urge them to pay attention and help with helicopters and the necessary infrastructure for opening roads and providing livelihood assistance, which we desperately need.

He stated regarding the lack of helicopters that having helicopters would save critically ill patients and especially pregnant women. The helicopter of the University of Medical Sciences is broken, and the Red Crescent friends have also been unable to send a helicopter. We expect the army and the IRGC, who have the most helicopters, to bring all their resources to the field. The situation is getting tougher by the moment, and the extent of the flooding is such that people have not experienced it before. There is no crisis management infrastructure at all, and the roads and bridges are underwater. The crisis center in Dashtiari is large, including parts of Telang, Pir Sohrab, and Dampak. The total population affected by the flood is close to 400,000 people, and 150 villages are severely challenged.

Saeedi spoke about the needs of Sistan, saying the living conditions have become very difficult, and people are severely struggling with bread and food packages. I have just come to the Red Crescent organization to follow up on these issues.
