Mohajerani, the Government Spokesperson: Pezeshkian's Class-Based Internet Has No Legal Basis

Mojaherani, the spokesperson for the Pezeshkian government, stated that tiered internet has no legal basis.

Fatemeh Mojaherani, the spokesperson for the Pezeshkian government, denied the tiered internet plan and said that tiered internet will never be on the government’s agenda.

On Wednesday, July 16, Fatemeh Mojaherani wrote on her social media account on X that the government emphasizes a widespread, high-quality free internet for all people.

Referring to the decision made by the Supreme Council of Cyberspace on Tuesday, she added that yesterday’s decision by the Supreme Council of Cyberspace has no relation to restricting the internet.

Mojaherani claimed that this decision was made to facilitate the activities of digital economy businesses in the financial sectors such as banking, insurance, transportation, and to benefit entrepreneurship and provide better services for the people.

She stressed that tiered internet neither has a legal basis nor will it ever be on the government’s agenda.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Reza Aref, the first deputy of Masoud Pezeshkian, on Wednesday called for the rapid establishment of the national internet and emphasized the need to strengthen domestic messengers that security and judicial institutions have full oversight over their content.

Aref claimed that we must assure domestic users that the national information network meets their demands in a secure environment.
