Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stopped negotiations with the US after Israel’s attack on Dahieh
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, claimed in a meeting with a group of cultural elites on Saturday, August 15, that he halted negotiations with the US and threatened to escalate the conflict in the region after Israel’s latest attack on Dahieh, Beirut.
Ghalibaf stated that after this attack, he announced that Israel would be targeted that very night and that if Israel responded, the entire region would be targeted.
Regarding the outcome of this threat, he said the result was that the siege was lifted that night, whereas according to him, it was supposed to take 30 days to complete this process as per the agreement.
The Speaker also claimed that after Donald Trump posted about the simultaneous lifting of the siege and the Strait of Hormuz, he warned that if the false claim about the Strait of Hormuz was not corrected, an attack would occur. According to Ghalibaf, Trump corrected his post 58 minutes later.
Ghalibaf described this approach as negotiation meaning struggle and discussed negotiation in connection with exerting pressure and military threats.
