Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi: Iran’s international bandwidth has been reduced by at least 4000 gigabits.
Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, the former Minister of Information, reposted a post from Zoomit, a technology news source, which reported a reduction of over 700 billion tomans in revenue for Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran due to internet disruptions in the country. He wrote on his Telegram channel:
If Zoomit’s statistics are accurate, it can be calculated that Iran’s international bandwidth has been reduced by at least 4000 gigabits. Meanwhile, the tehranixir website reports an average growth of less than 400 gigabits in domestic bandwidth. This means that despite imposing strict restrictions, at most only ten percent of Iranian users’ data exchange has been redirected to domestic platforms.
A forecast of a 10 trillion toman revenue decline for operators by the end of the current year, a sharp drop in the value of telecom sector stocks on the stock market, and serious liquidity issues for these companies, which may sometimes result in failure to pay contractors or significant delays in paying employee salaries, is not far-fetched.
