Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi: Let’s not create a duality with the Arbaeen pilgrimage

Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, the Minister of Communications in Rouhani’s government, praised the government’s action of closing the Iraq border to protect the lives of pilgrims in his Telegram channel. He wrote:

Just because today’s officials, who were yesterday’s critics and used any issue as a lever to attack the government at the time, does not mean that such mistaken behavior should be repeated.

I say ‘well done’ to all those who are working to serve the pilgrims of Aba Abdullah, regardless of their role. It is commendable that it was determined the conditions were not sufficiently prepared for the presence of Iranian pilgrims, and they were sent back to ensure their safety was not at risk.

Although these issues had been previously warned about by some caring Iraqi brothers and were not given enough attention, it was nonetheless a valuable experience for the coming years.
