Mohammad Javad Larijani’s Revelation About Carelessness in Signing the JCPOA
Mohammad Javad Larijani, a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, announced on a television program that the Islamic Republic signed the nuclear agreement known as the JCPOA without thoroughly studying the snapback mechanism clause.
He added that this clause was unofficially added at the last moments of the negotiations, and none of the officials of the Islamic Republic had the opportunity to review it.
Larijani also criticized the process of approving the JCPOA and said that at that time, his brother Ali Larijani, who was the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, did not allow the parliament members to fully read the text of the agreement.
He described this approach as a strategic mistake in the history of the Islamic Republic’s diplomacy.
