Mohsen Hajimirzaei: Mosque-centered schools are a dangerous idea

Mohsen Hajimirzaei, the Minister of Education in Rouhani’s government, has called the creation of mosque-centered schools in Iran a dangerous idea.

In an interview with the newspaper Hammihan, he stated that the purpose of these schools is rebellion against the formal education system and added that they seek to delegitimize the official education system.

Mr. Hajimirzaei expressed concern about the spread of this phenomenon and added that if anyone acts in this way, one of the most important fundamental rights of the people is put at risk.

He claimed that even liberal and Western countries do not auction off public and elementary education in this manner and act systematically and precisely in this regard because the goal is to prepare people for life and to nurture their talents.
