Mojgan Kavoosi, a Kurdish researcher and writer from Kelardasht, was released from prison on a 3 billion toman bail.

According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, Ms. Kavoosi was sentenced to five years and two months of imprisonment on January 8, which her lawyers have appealed. Ms. Kavoosi was previously accused of ‘corruption on earth’ but was acquitted of this charge.

Ms. Kavoosi, who follows the Yarsan faith and resides in Kelardasht, was arrested on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

According to the Hrana news agency, she was tried in the Sari Revolutionary Court, and among other charges, she was accused of inciting people to conflict and spreading immorality by posting content on her personal page.

In the wake of widespread protests in Iran, the government has severely suppressed the protesters and arrested a large number, charging some of the detainees with serious offenses such as ‘corruption on earth’, ‘waging war against God’, and ‘rebellion’, which could lead to death sentences.
