Mawlavi Abdulhamid: We will endure any threat

While recent reports have surfaced about the foiling of an assassination plot against Mawlavi Abdulhamid, the influential Sunni leader of Iran, he, in his first public speech, indirectly referred to these reports and considered the threats against his life ineffective.

On Friday, June 23rd, Abdulhamid Ismaeelzahi, in his weekly sermon during the Friday prayers in Zahedan, called for the prosperity of both this world and the hereafter for the people of Iran. He said, ‘We are not after personal benefits, we neither seek power nor material gains, we pursue the interests of the nation and the people.’

He added, ‘As long as there is breath in our bodies, we will pursue the interests of the people of Iran, and in this path, we will endure any threat.’

The remarks of Mawlavi Abdulhamid were met with widespread reactions from the worshippers at the Makki Mosque in Zahedan, the venue for the Friday prayers, and they chanted slogans in support of the Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan.
