Moqtada al-Sadr Announces One-Year Suspension of Sadr Movement Activities

Muqtada al-Sadr announces a one-year suspension of the activities of the Sadr movement

Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadr movement in Iraq, announced that the activities of this political movement will be suspended for one year.

On Friday, Mr. Sadr wrote on his Twitter account that he deems it necessary to suspend the activities of the Sadr movement, except for holding Friday prayers, the Heritage Organization, and his father’s office, for at least one year.

He stated that the reason for this action is to cleanse the Sadr movement of certain corrupt individuals and declared his disassociation from them.

In another tweet, Sadr also announced the suspension of his activity on Twitter until further notice.
