More than 1,000 people from Khuzestan were sent to hospitals.
Officials from Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Ahvaz announced that more than one thousand people from Khuzestan province have been sent to hospitals due to heart and respiratory problems caused by air pollution.
Meysam Moezi, the deputy director of treatment at Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Ahvaz, stated that all hospitals affiliated with Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences are on standby.
According to this university official, most patients have been discharged from the hospitals, but about 200 people are still hospitalized.
In Iran, tens of thousands of people die annually due to complications arising from air pollution.
According to experts, the lack of sufficient gas inside Iran as fuel for refineries has led the government to revert to using mazut, which has caused severe and unprecedented air pollution in various cities.
In such conditions, individuals with heart or lung diseases, the elderly, and children should reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities.
