Molavi Abdul Hamid: The reason for the 1979 revolution was the lack of freedom
Molavi Abdul Hamid, the Friday prayer leader of Zahedan and a popular figure in the region, stated on his official Instagram page that in his view, the reason for the 1970s revolution in Iran was the lack of freedom. On Friday, November 4th, during the Friday prayers at Makki Mosque in Zahedan, he called for a referendum with the presence of international observers.
He and tens of thousands of protesters in the Sistan and Baluchestan province have been holding large gatherings every Friday over the past month, chanting against the Islamic Republic and simultaneously demanding an investigation into the massacre on Friday, September 30th, in Zahedan, during which between 80 to 100 protesters were killed by direct fire from police, security forces, and the Revolutionary Guards.
