Municipality Denies Issuing Permits for 25-Square-Meter Housing

The municipality rejected the issuance of permits for 25-square-meter housing

Abdolmottaleb Mohammadhani, the spokesperson for Tehran’s municipality, denied the news of constructing 25-square-meter housing in the city, stating that no construction permits have been issued and will not be issued.

The ISNA news agency quoted him saying that no construction permits for any 25-square-meter residential unit have been issued in district 19 or any other district of Tehran municipality, and will not be issued. Essentially, the construction of 25-square-meter micro-apartments in Tehran is against the explicit provisions of the detailed plan.

According to him, based on the law, the per capita area for each square meter of housing in the detailed plan is 175 square meters per person, which for a young couple equals 35 square meters, and issuing permits for this is not common and is only possible in emergency situations.

Previously, the Union of Urban Development Cooperatives of Tehran announced the implementation of a project to construct 1,800 apartments ranging from 25 to 35 square meters in the coming weeks.

Khashayar Bagherpour, the CEO of this union, stated that this project is set to be executed in district 19 of Tehran on a land area of 11,000 square meters, with the price of these units being less than one billion tomans, offered fully furnished with initial furniture.
