Nagmeh Moradabadi, Tar Player of the Melody 'Dance of Ekbatan Girls', Says 'I Didn't Intend to Support Anyone'

Nagmeh Moradabadi, a tar player, melody of the Ekbatan girls’ dance, I didn’t intend to support anyone.

Nagmeh Moradabadi, a tar player in Iran, announced in a video that the video she had previously released of herself playing the melody of the Ekbatan girls’ dance music was only meant to bring joy to her audience and she did not intend to support anyone.

She complained about the media outlets that published her video with the headline of supporting the Ekbatan girls.

It is unclear under what circumstances Ms. Moradabadi recorded this video, which many consider to be a coerced confession. A video was also released from the Ekbatan girls, who were reported to have been briefly detained after the widespread release of their dance video, in which they expressed regret for what they had done.

After the release of the Ekbatan girls’ dance video on social media, many girls and boys in various parts of Iran and other countries expressed their support for the Ekbatan girls by releasing videos of themselves dancing, playing music, cycling without a headscarf, or skating.
