Narges Mohammadi called for comprehensive pressure on Iran
Narges Mohammadi, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and imprisoned human rights activist in Iran, accused the Iranian government of systematic human rights violations and crimes against humanity in a message published on her Instagram account, coinciding with the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting, and called for comprehensive pressure from the United Nations and human rights organizations on Iran.
She states that human rights violations in Iran are systematically widespread and institutionalized, and says that as protests and social movements expand, the regime’s violence also intensifies.
In this statement, Ms. Mohammadi says the regime’s violence is relentless not only against opponents and protesters but also against women, religious minorities, and ethnic groups.
Narges Mohammadi, while appreciating the efforts of the fact-finding committee and the UN special rapporteur on human rights, called for the continuation of this committee’s activities to reveal the visible and hidden dimensions of gender apartheid and crimes against humanity by the Iranian government.
