Time magazine included the name of Narges Mohammadi, an imprisoned human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, in the list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2024.
This list, which has been published in six sections, places Ms. Mohammadi in the leaders section alongside prominent figures such as Yulia Navalnaya, a Russian political dissident and wife of Alexei Navalny, Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, William Burns, the CIA Director, Javier Milei, the President of Argentina, Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister of Qatar.
In the introduction text for Narges Mohammadi, written by Nadia Murad, a renowned Iraqi human rights activist, it is stated that Ms. Mohammadi’s life is dedicated to fighting the oppression of women, and her voice is loud and powerful even behind prison bars.
Ms. Murad further wrote that for decades, Narges has helped Iranian women find the courage to fight injustice; her influence and impact are not silenced by imprisonment and do not remain confined to one country.
