Narges Mohammadi to the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights: Prevent the issuance and execution of protestors’ death sentences
Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist imprisoned in Evin Prison, yesterday published a letter requesting Javaid Rehman, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, to use all the power and resources of the United Nations to prevent the arrest, torture, and issuance and execution of heavy sentences against protestors, and to actively oppose executions to prevent the issuance and execution of such sentences against protestors.
In the text of this letter, published on Ms. Mohammadi’s Instagram page, it states: I urge you, given the intensified repression and human rights violations, to pay more attention to creating opportunities for human rights organizations and defenders in this field in Iran. Let us strive to ensure that human rights find their rightful place in the governance relations so that the path to freedom for the people becomes smoother.
