NATO Secretary General Warns: Iran and North Korea are Expanding Their Nuclear Programs

NATO Secretary General warns that Iran and North Korea are expanding their nuclear programs

Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, described the global security outlook as concerning on Tuesday, April 18, and warned that Iran and North Korea are openly expanding their nuclear programs.

Mr. Stoltenberg, speaking at the 18th annual NATO conference on arms control, disarmament, and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, stated that Russia’s war against Ukraine is part of a long pattern of aggressive behavior. Russia is seeking to undermine the foundations of the rules-based international system.

The NATO Secretary General also accused Russia of ignoring, violating, or abandoning many international arms control treaties that have kept the world safe, and said the Kremlin has decided to dismantle arms control and undermine strategic stability.
