Netanyahu’s trip to Germany has been postponed to another time
The governments of Germany and the United Kingdom are under pressure to cancel hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was supposed to arrive in Berlin late Wednesday
On the eve of Benjamin Netanyahu’s departure to Germany and before his planned trip to the United Kingdom, a thousand writers, artists, and academics wrote a letter to the ambassadors of the two European countries, asking their governments to cancel these trips
In this letter, they stated that in the face of Mr. Netanyahu’s dangerous and destructive leadership and in light of the widespread democratic resistance by Israeli citizens against the destruction of government institutions through undemocratic legislation, we ask Germany and the United Kingdom to immediately cancel Netanyahu’s trips
Mr. Netanyahu’s government is attempting actions that would result in the limitation of the country’s judicial system
Protesters in Israel describe this effort as a threat to Israel’s liberal democracy and condemn the government’s plan as undermining the judicial institutions
