Canada’s New Sanctions Against the Islamic Republic
The Canadian government announced today, Monday, March 27, that in the latest round of sanctions against the Islamic Republic, it has sanctioned two entities and eight Iranian officials for human rights violations and the production of drones and ballistic missiles.
This is the tenth round of Canadian sanctions against Iran since last October and the crackdown on recent protests, targeting officials from the Revolutionary Guards and Iran’s law enforcement forces.
These sanctions also include several Iranian officials involved in the production of drones and ballistic missiles.
Reuters reported that Melanie Joly, Canada’s Foreign Minister, stated in a declaration that she calls on the Iranian regime to stop its violent repression of the Iranian people and to address their demands with good faith.
Since the start of nationwide protests in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of the morality police and the severe and deadly crackdown by security forces, Canada has sanctioned dozens of officials and entities of the Islamic Republic.
