Release of a new photo of Nika Shakarami during the protests

Aida Shakarami, the sister of Nika Shakarami, a teenager who was killed during the protests, has released a new image of her.

By sharing this image, in which Nika is seen burning her headscarf, on her Instagram page, she wrote: ‘My Nika, you set fire to the cruelty of those heartless criminals who have long hanged life with the rotten rope of ignorance. You are the reason for the renaissance after the darkness and disgrace of the Middle Ages. You are life itself.’

She also wrote that this photo reminds her of lines from the novel ‘The Widows’: ‘You think they are strong.’

‘Look closely at our differences. Their differences are empty; if you open them, a little depressed blood and a little pus oozes out. That’s why when they die, they die forever. But we continue life even with our death.’

In two other separate posts, Nika Shakarami’s sister has shared images of clothing designs that she says Nika drew at the age of thirteen.
