America’s New Proposal for Ukraine
The Washington Post, in its latest report, has unveiled a particular approach within the structure of U.S. foreign policy that presents a new plan and new messages for the Ukrainians. Recently, American officials have told the Ukrainians to show a willingness to negotiate and have discussions with the Russians in their public and open interactions.
Naturally, this does not mean encouraging Zelensky to negotiate with Putin. The U.S. is aware of the waning enthusiasm of its allies in supporting Ukraine, and on the other hand, it values its achievements in uniting European countries with its approach. Senior officials of major European countries are determined to support the Ukrainian defenders, while also being concerned about the increasing dissatisfaction of their citizens due to livelihood issues and the energy crisis resulting from Putin’s aggression against Ukraine.
Therefore, the Biden administration sees the best way as creating an image of Ukraine that is willing to engage in dialogue under reasonable conditions, and if a ceasefire is not achieved, Russia is to blame.
Zelensky neither wants to nor can think about a ceasefire and peace until all occupied territories are reclaimed.
