New York Times Details on Iran and US Agreement

Details from The New York Times about the Iran and U.S. agreement

The New York Times reports that Morad Tahbaz, Siamak Namazi, and Emad Sharghi are among the prisoners released by Iran.

The names of the other 2 released prisoners have not been mentioned; one of the two unidentified released prisoners is a scientist, and the other is a businessman.

The fifth prisoner, who is a woman, was released earlier and is currently under house arrest.

The Biden administration has released $6 billion of Iran’s oil sale funds that were blocked in South Korea and will transfer it to an account in Qatar.

The Qatari government will control Iran’s funds and will only allow Iran to use them for purchasing humanitarian goods.

This agreement was almost completed in March, but negotiations were halted due to the arrest of one of the two unidentified American citizens by Iran.
