Next Year's Medicine Budget Does Not Meet the Country's Needs

Next year’s drug budget does not meet the country’s needs

Mohammad Abdozadeh, Chairman of the Board of the Syndicate of Human Pharmaceutical Industries of Iran, stated that the proposed budget of the Food and Drug Organization is 105 trillion tomans, while the budget considered in the bill is 69 trillion tomans. This difference must be covered, otherwise two situations will arise: either the insurance fulfills its commitments and runs out of funds halfway, placing the financial burden on companies and drug suppliers, or the insurance is forced to exclude certain drugs from coverage based on the budget it has, meaning it reduces its commitments to the people. Consequently, the cost of obtaining medication falls on the people, ultimately impacting them negatively.
