Nicaragua's Embassy in Germany Permanently Closed

The Nicaraguan embassy in Germany has been permanently closed.

After Nicaragua filed a complaint against the German government for involvement in the Gaza Strip genocide, this Central American country finally closed its embassy in Berlin completely and permanently.

An employee of the Nicaraguan embassy in Vienna confirmed to the German news agency that in the future, official matters of this embassy will be handled by Nicaragua’s diplomatic representation in Austria. All consular duties will also be carried out from Vienna in the future.

Prior to this action, the autocratic government of Daniel Ortega, the president of this country, announced in the official newspaper on Tuesday, April 9th, that Sabra Murillo, the Nicaraguan ambassador stationed in Vienna, would be the country’s ambassador to Germany.

According to the German Foreign Ministry, several hundred Nicaraguan citizens live in Germany, and about one thousand Germans live in Nicaragua.
