Nika Shakarami was sexually assaulted and murdered after being arrested by officers

Nika Shakarami was sexually assaulted and killed after being arrested by officers.

Documents obtained by BBC World Service confirm that three men, assigned by Iranian security forces to counter the 2022 protest demonstrations, sexually assaulted Nika Shakarami, a teenage girl participating in these protests, and then killed her.

These documents include the names of Nika’s murderers and senior commanders who tried to conceal the truth about this incident.

The report obtained by the BBC is marked as highly confidential and contains a summary of the investigation session on Nika’s case by the Revolutionary Guards.

The most important points are as follows:

After Nika Shakarami was arrested and transferred to the back of an unmarked refrigerated van, one of the officers sexually assaulted her while sitting on her.

Although Nika’s hands were handcuffed and she was restrained in this way, she continued to resist and defend herself with kicks and curses.

During the hearing of the case, these individuals confessed that they severely beat her with a baton and after killing her, left her body in a side street near the Yadegar-e-Imam Highway.

This team sent one of their agents as a protester among the crowd to ensure Nika was indeed one of the protest leaders. According to this report, the undercover agent contacted the team members for Nika’s arrest, but Nika escaped.

They tried a nearby temporary police station, but due to its crowdedness, they went elsewhere.

They drove for 35 minutes and took her to a detention center. The head of the detention center initially agreed to accept Nika but then changed his mind.

He reported to the investigator that the accused, Nika, kept cursing and shouting slogans. At that time, there were 14 other detained women, and I thought she might incite the others.

One of them, Behrouz Sadeghi, said Nika started cursing and yelling after the detention center refused her and she was taken back to the van.

He told the investigator that Arash Kalahor gagged Nika with his socks, but she was struggling and writhing. Then Sadegh Manjezi placed her on a chest freezer and sat on her, calming the situation.
