Nouri Qazaljeh, Member of Parliament, Police Likely to Act on Hijab Based on 1980s Laws

Nouri Qazaljeh, a member of the parliament, suggests that the police are likely acting based on the laws from the 1980s regarding hijab.

Nouri Qazaljeh, a member of the 11th Parliament, in response to the re-implementation of the Guidance Patrol in the form of what the police call the Noor Plan, told Iran Watch that if the police’s reference in this action is to the Hijab and Chastity law, which has not yet been passed into law, relying on it is not correct.

The Hijab and Chastity law has not yet completed its legal process and is not official. This law is currently going back and forth between the Parliament and the Guardian Council. The police are likely acting based on past laws drafted in the early 1980s and may take actions regarding voluntary coverage.
