Novo Nordisk Pharmaceutical Company Introduces New Iranian CEO

The pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk introduced its new Iranian-born CEO.

The pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, based in Bagsværd, north of Copenhagen, announced that Mazyar Mike Doustdar, an Austrian citizen born in Iran and raised in the United States, will be appointed as the new president and CEO of the company starting August 7.

Doustdar has been working at the company since 1992.

He is 54 years old and has been responsible for Novo Nordisk’s international operations since 2013. He will replace the current Danish CEO, Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen, effectively taking the helm of a company with over 77,000 employees in 80 countries worldwide.

Novo Nordisk is globally renowned, especially for producing the weight loss drug Wegovy and Ozempic, a diabetes medication also prescribed for weight loss.
