Oman Airspace Opened for Israeli Aircraft

Oman’s airspace opened to Israeli aircraft

Eli Cohen, Israel’s Foreign Minister, thanked Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Sultan of Oman, for opening the country’s airspace to all airlines, including Israeli ones.

According to the Israeli Foreign Minister, the opening of Oman’s airspace has enabled Israeli airlines to offer shorter routes to Asia.

According to Reuters, Mr. Cohen described this as a historic and important decision for Israel’s economy and Israeli travelers.

Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority announced today, Thursday, that the country’s airspace will be open to all aircraft that comply with the authority’s regulations.

Previously, the CEO of Israel’s national airline, El Al, stated that if Oman allows the company’s planes to fly over its airspace, the airline’s position for transporting passengers to Asia would be significantly enhanced.

In early July, Saudi Arabia also announced that it would open its skies to aircraft from all countries worldwide.
