Order to censor news about Mahsa Amini and public protests to the media
According to a confidential document received by Iran Gate, the General Directorate of Internal Press Guidance, in a directive, attempts to present a constructed image of public protests over the killing of Mahsa Amini. They aim to create a polarized society by linking public protests to foreign influences and emphasizing the protesters’ antagonism towards religion and religious symbols.
In another part of this document, it is emphasized to highlight governmental gatherings, urging media managers to portray these movements as spontaneous and grassroots.
It seems that the project of polarizing society, despite all the warnings from sociologists and political experts about it being a serious threat that accelerates social collapse, is still considered by some sections of the government as a tool for managing protests.
