Over two thousand workers died in workplace accidents in 2023

Over two thousand workers lost their lives in workplace accidents in the year 1402.

Two thousand one hundred and fifteen people died in 1402 due to accidents at the workplace while performing their jobs.

According to the head of the crime scene investigation group of the Forensic Medicine Organization, 2,115 people died last year due to accidents occurring during work, showing a 113 percent increase compared to 1401.

Of the total workplace accident fatalities last year, 2,094 were men and 21 were women. In 1401, the numbers were reported as 1,870 men and 30 women.

Based on this statistical report, Tehran and Isfahan provinces had the highest fatalities with 414 and 172 deaths, respectively. Khorasan with 147 deaths and Mazandaran with 138 deaths ranked next.

The lowest death toll while working was in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad with three deaths, Ilam with nine, and Zanjan with ten.

Falls from heights, with 983 fatalities, accounted for the largest share of workplace accident deaths, comprising 46.5 percent of the total fatalities. This type of death saw a 142 percent increase compared to the year 1401.
