Police in Pakistan have postponed the arrest of Imran Khan
While Imran Khan, the opposition leader and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has stated that paramilitary forces are stationed outside his residence in Lahore, the police have said they have currently refrained from executing his arrest warrant.
Paramilitary forces affiliated with the army have been deployed as two continuous days of clashes between his supporters and security forces continue.
Imran Khan has said that the protests by his supporters have led the Pakistani army to take a stance against his party.
The Pakistani army wields significant influence in the country’s political scene and has a long history of interfering in politics and overthrowing governments through coups.
Mr. Khan has posted images of bullet casings and tear gas canisters on his Twitter, claiming that these were fired at his house.
A local official has denied the deliberate firing of bullets at his residence, stating that they were fired during clashes between police and Imran Khan’s supporters outside his home.
