Pakistan Registered Its First Order to Purchase Oil from Russia

Pakistan registered its first order to buy oil from Russia

Reuters news agency reported on Thursday, April 20, that according to Pakistan’s oil minister, the country registered its first order to buy crude oil from Russia at a discount under a new agreement between Islamabad and Moscow.

This order is set to be delivered to Pakistan in the form of a shipment in May at the port of Karachi.

Mussadiq Malik told Reuters that under this agreement, Pakistan is purchasing only crude oil from Russia and not refined petroleum products, and if the first transaction is completed without issues, Pakistan’s oil imports from Russia could reach up to 100,000 barrels per day.

Malik added that our orders have been placed and we have already registered them. He confirmed the reports regarding the purchase of crude oil from Russia, saying we only buy crude oil, not refined.

According to this Pakistani official, the purchased oil from Russia will first be refined in Karachi, and after that, it will be used for testing and in other refineries.
