Member of Parliament: 8 million liters of mazut are burned daily in Isfahan

The representative of Shahin Shahr in Parliament has stated that despite the warming weather and the end of the peak gas consumption period, 8 million liters of mazut are still burned daily at the Shahid Montazeri power plant in Isfahan.

Hossein Ali Haji Deligani has said that this issue results in the release of about 450 tons of pollutants into the air. According to him, 7 units of this power plant still use mazut and this fuel has not been changed. He mentioned that he has brought up the issue with the relevant authorities, but no action has been taken, and approximately 3 million residents in this area are inhaling the toxic air caused by mazut burning.

Mazut burning has been cited as one of the main reasons for severe air pollution in many major cities in Iran.
