Pashinyan: Peace with Azerbaijan is not possible at the moment

The Prime Minister of Armenia stated that the Collective Security Treaty has not been implemented regarding Armenia and said that Yerevan has suspended its membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, said that in our view, the Collective Security Treaty, especially in 2021 and 2022, has not been implemented concerning Armenia, and we cannot ignore this. We have suspended our participation in this treaty to see what happens in the future.

Raising the topic of diversifying security relations and Pashinyan’s abstention from attending the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s meeting is the latest development indicating the cooling of relations between Russia and Armenia. Pashinyan previously canceled a planned Collective Security Treaty Organization exercise on his soil and also refrained from attending the Commonwealth of Independent States meeting in October.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization is comprised of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, and Belarus.
