The meteorological organization has issued a red alert for Khuzestan, Ilam, Lorestan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad on Tuesday, March 20th.
There is a risk of sudden rise in river water levels, flash floods in streams and seasonal rivers, widespread flooding of streets, overflowing dams, road blockages, potential bridge damage, and harm to some infrastructure like power transmission lines, as well as damage to temporary and light structures in these provinces.
According to meteorological forecasts, point rainfall in some areas will reach up to 300 millimeters, a few hours of rain that, under normal conditions, is equivalent to four years of rainfall in some western regions of the country.
