The Pentagon: U.S. presence in the Persian Gulf is effective in restraining Iran

Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder announced in a press conference on Thursday, August 17, that the military presence of the U.S. and its allies in the Persian Gulf has had a deterrent effect on the destructive activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Pentagon spokesman added that statistically, the impact of U.S. forces’ presence on Iran’s destructive activities is a trend that will become clear over time.

He emphasized that we believe we currently have a deterrent effect by working closely with our allies and partners in the region. That is why we have deployed more forces in the area, and we will continue our monitoring and surveillance.

The Pentagon spokesman expressed hope that this trend will follow a downward path, saying that ultimately, this matter still depends on Iran itself.
