The per capita consumption of red meat by Iranian citizens has halved.
According to Afshin Sadr Dadras, the CEO of the Central Union of Light Livestock in Iran, the per capita consumption of red meat by Iranian citizens has halved due to decreased purchasing power.
He told ILNA news agency that under the current circumstances, one cannot expect a reduction in red meat prices, even though in the second half of this year, officials have continuously promised this in the media, but as we can see, nothing new has happened.
Mr. Sadr Dadras stated that considering the inflation rate and production costs, this product cannot be offered at a price less than 600,000 tomans per kilogram.
He announced that the per capita consumption of red meat in the country is 6 to 7 kilograms per year.
Iranian citizens are grappling with rising inflation, especially in food items and the housing sector. Among these, items like meat have experienced a significant price increase in recent years.
Economic recession on one hand and rising inflation on the other have made the living conditions of many even harder than before.
