Pezeshkian spoke about Tehran’s distrust of the United States in a meeting with Asim Munir

On Saturday, May 23, Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic, in a meeting with Asim Munir, the commander of Pakistan’s army in Tehran, referred to the ongoing negotiations to end military conflicts and spoke about Tehran’s distrust of the United States.

According to the presidential website, Pezeshkian accused the United States of repeatedly breaking promises and launching attacks during negotiations. He said that the history and experience of negotiating with Americans dictate that we must exercise utmost caution. He claimed that Tehran is merely seeking to assert its legal rights and emphasized that Washington will not win this conflict, and Israel is the only party benefiting from the war.

In this meeting, Asim Munir, whose country plays a mediating role between Tehran and Washington, described the progress of the talks positively and expressed hope that these negotiations will reach a desirable outcome as soon as possible. The commander of Pakistan’s army also accused Israel of having no interest in establishing stability in the region.
