Poland delivers more MiG fighters to Ukraine
Western countries’ military support for Ukraine continues to enhance the country’s defensive capabilities against Russian military aggression, which began on February 24 of last year.
The German Federal Defense Minister confirmed on Thursday, April 13, that Poland has requested permission to deliver some MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. Boris Pistorius stated that a decision regarding Poland’s request will be made today, April 13.
MiG-29 fighters were among the Russian weapons of the East German army that, after the reunification of the two Germanys, came under the control of the Federal Air Force.
In 2002, Germany sold 23 of its MiG-29s to Poland, and therefore, delivering them to a third country requires permission from Berlin.
Last month, Poland announced its decision to deliver 12 MiG-29s to Ukraine, some of which are apparently grounded and are intended to be used for spare parts.
