Political Crisis in Peru Following Police Raid on President's House, Six Ministers Resign

Political crisis in Peru following the police raid on the president’s house, six ministers resigned.

Dina Boluarte, the President of Peru, on Monday, April 1st (13th of Farvardin), replaced six ministers in the midst of a new political scandal involving luxury watches after their sudden resignation.

The chain resignation of cabinet ministers, which includes Peru’s Interior Minister, occurred after the country’s police began investigating claims related to the illegal possession of expensive Rolex watches by Ms. Boluarte.

Around 40 police officers and prosecutors raided the Peruvian president’s house over the weekend, seeking evidence regarding the origin of at least three Rolex watches that had not been previously publicly declared in her list of assets. Ms. Boluarte has denied any wrongdoing and insists that she purchased the watches with her own money.

Victor Torres, the Interior Minister, announced his decision to step down from his position on Monday.
