Pope Francis warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence
The leader of the world’s Catholics, on Wednesday, January 24th, acknowledged that he himself has been a victim of deepfake images and warned about the misleading dangers of artificial intelligence, once again calling for international regulations on how this technology should be used for public benefit.
In his message for the Catholic Church’s World Communications Day, which is held worldwide on May 12th, Pope Francis spoke about his concerns and hopes regarding artificial intelligence technology.
He urged people to temporarily set aside catastrophic predictions and worries about the passive effects of anything new, but in his three-page message, he focused more on clear warnings about cognitive pollution, which can distort reality, promote false narratives, and trap people in ideological confines.
