Possibility of South Korea Sending Weapons to Ukraine
The President of South Korea mentioned the possibility of changing the country’s stance on not providing weapons to countries involved in war, regarding the Ukraine war, and considered the direct shipment of weapons to Ukraine likely.
On Thursday, November 17, Yoon Suk-yeol, in a press conference in Seoul, also revealed that he had a phone conversation with Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, discussing North Korea and setting the stage for a meeting in the near future.
South Korea is one of the major exporters of weaponry, but traditionally, this country has followed a policy of not providing weapons to countries engaged in war.
North Korea, however, has become one of the loud supporters of Russia during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The deployment of North Korean forces to Russia to assist in the Ukraine war and the recent statements by the South Korean President indicate the possibility of a policy change in Seoul on this matter.
